Nobu at Crown Sydney

The world’s most recognised and acclaimed Japanese restaurant poses the most remarkable exclusive experience opportunity. With sensational Sydney Harbour views, timber floors and feature chandeliers across a number of lush dining rooms.

Designed by Studio PCH USA, they wanted to acheive the traditional yet contemporary fusion that Nobu represents.

“The designers required high durability floors that could withstand their high foot traffic. We recommended our Milano range Oak Natural as it went well with their design requirements. With a high quality lacquer finish the floors on our Milano range ensure that high foot traffic for commerical spaces don’t damage them.  ”

– Jack Wang, Managing Director | Style Timber

“The restuarant features a unique pattern of timber floors, that activates the restaurant and creates a buzz from the moment you enter the reataurant. The design concept was taken from the Nobu brand’s contemporary Japanese aesthetic. The Nobu Sydney restaurant continues to highlight a dual theme – the contrast between the urban aesthetic of exposed concrete with ultra-modern lush fabrics and the natural, warm elements behind Japanese design like warm Iroko wood furnishings and white oak millwork. Predominant materials such as natural oak floors, and Iroko wood and oil-rubbed bronze metal details provide continuity and drama as you move through the restaurant space.”

– Studio PCH| Designer

The interior designer worked together with Style Timber to help choose a colour tone that would create a powerful statement but balances against the design featuresIt was important that the finish was matte and not too shiny, creating a calming textural experience.

STYLE NOTE:

Sometimes simple can be complex. Take a look at how straight boards can be used to create different patterns in floors.
