Engineered timber floor also known as floating floor. It’s a very good option for any new home or renovation. Floating floor is made up of three or multi layers of different timber. The top surface layer is premium quality hardwood about 3-4mm thick, compare to hard wood floor, it cost less natural resource. So, it’s environmental friendly.
With up to 7 scratch and stain resistant coatings it very durable against general wear and tear even stains. The top layer is adhered onto two cross-ply layers of plantation grade timber or plywood timber, giving the floor strength and dimensional stability. It’s available in one, two or three strips. Single strip is generally the most expensive, giving the closest look to a solid timber floor.
Floating floor can be installed on any sub-floor, such as concrete slab, existing timber floor, particle board even tile, as long as the sub-floor is solid, flat and dry, therefore, it’s more suitable for apartments or units, as it's easier and faster to install than solid timber. Some of the species are available in both tongue & grove and click joint system.
